The Dark Light of the Day was written by Jill Archer. This novel was published earlier this year in
2012. It is the first novel in a supernatural series. The series is called Noon
Onyx novels.
The Dark Light of the Day is a dark, romantic, and supernatural
novel. It is a dark novel because of its character’s haunting and mysterious
pasts or beginnings. The main character, Noon Onyx, is a magic user with the
Maegester powers, which is a power closely related to death. Maegesters have
control over fire and demons and are always males except Noon. Noon should have
been born with Mederi powers because she is a female. Noon hates that she was
born differently than how she was supposed to be and she had no idea why she
was different. Noon and Peter, Noon’s
best friend, try to find a book that could set Noon’s powers to how they were
supposed to be.
The romance
in the novel comes from two different men. One man is her best friend, Peter,
and he reveals his feelings for Noon as the story goes on. Noon does have
feelings for Peter but these feeling seem to be mainly friendly as the second
man holds her heart. The second man is Ari Carmine, who helps Noon accept and
learn how to use her powers. Noon is reluctant to talk to Ari at first, when he
discovers she has the Maegester powers, but she soon began to give in and spend
time with him. Ari is a bad boy, powerful, handsome, and smart. As the novel progressed, you begin to learn
how good Ari and Noon are together.
Noon believes
she can not have children because she has Maegester powers, which she thinks
will kill any baby she may conceive.
This is one of her major reasons for wanting to change her powers. Noon begins to learn to accept herself and her
powers as the novel goes on. She begins to realize it is not a horrible thing,
if she can not change her powers to that of a Mederi.
I would recommend
this novel to anyone who enjoys romance, the supernatural, and action in their
novels. I really enjoyed reading The Dark
Light of the Day. It is a spectacular novel.
